Videos are the in things for influencers because they are most interesting and you need not be literate to read the text. Who are these influencers and what is influencer marketing?
Quite frankly, everyone known and unknown, a celebrity with some style and some following is an influencer. But they already have identities – such as a politician, a film star, a nubile young fashionista, et al. But if you look at your screen again you will notice that there are hundreds, nay thousands of people you don’t know who have posted whacky, or educative, cuisines or fashion, dancing or DIY videos that can be interesting to many.
These are the influencers. The terminology is inferred from the fact that they are influencing you to follow them and in between if you see commercials - these is the business end of influencing people. Every influencer will have followers in thousands, or millions, and depending on your platform, be it YouTube or Instagram, Facebook or some others that do not operate in India, you have made it to the influencer list. Even twitter has its influencers.
The first part being commercials that follow your short, the second part is the influencer directly recommends a product or brand. It is said that celebrities are paid in millions of dollars or rupees for every tweet they make. Whoa! So, you see, influencers are in hot demand.
According to an EY report India’s influencer market size is expected to reach INR 3,375 crore by 2026, growing at 18% CAGR. It was just INR 1500 crore in 2022 and is expected to reach INR 2344 crore this year. 50% of the time spent on mobile phones are on social media platforms. The report also states that agencies currently play a critical role in implementing influencer marketing strategies. Many brands believe that their agencies are fairly equipped to drive influencer marketing campaigns. Marketers need to partner with agencies which drive authentic data driven influencer strategy and provide real time monitoring and insights, while ensuring brand safety. It is a good time to be an influencer in India. 86% of influencers expected over 10% increase in their income over the next two years. Influencer marketing is here to stay. Agencies that provide influencer marketing services will do well in the current scenario.
The fact that everybody has a smart phone and can shoot videos and pics makes them highly potent. A little bit of creativity and patience in getting followers is the key element that differentiates between the real influencers and wannabes.
Humor gets a lot of eyeballs. So, get some ideas and shoot scenes that will get you a healthy laugh, and forwards.
In India, WhatsApp is quite happening and you can send the funny videos to your friends and there on it catches up. Put your video on YouTube and Instagram as well as face book. Stick to your niche area. Are you good in the kitchen – trying doing cuisines. Food attracts a lot of attention. You can also create educational videos if you are good in something.

Consistency pays rich dividends. So be regular on the posting and put up things that people like. It requires some research and application to the task.

Please be careful while trying to be a influencer on the net. New Indian laws have become stricter and you can be hauled to court for a seemingly inappropriate content. True, today’s technology enables you to reach out to many, but with this freedom comes responsibility. Think twice before posting anything that can be read (seen) wrong.
